Art to Clean Up the Oceans

On October 6, 2014, Jane Hink created this collage in Jim Paradis's Abstract Expressionism Class.

She had read about the huge flotilla of trash in the north Pacific which was the size of Texas and contained more than 5 trillion pieces of plastic.

Boyan Slat, a 24 year Dutchman, who invented a U - shaped screen and floater device to clean up the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in 5 years.  Slat raised $31 million and founded  The Ocean Cleanup company. His device was launched from San Francisco in September 2018.  *

Jane had married a Dutch sailor she met on the Dutch ship "Dongedijk" in the 1950s.  

She donated her collage to Mr. Slat's company, The Ocean Cleanup, and today it hangs in the company's headquarters in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.*

Jane Hink, Villages artist

Jane, who began painting in 5th grade,

has taught 9 Oil & Acrylic Painting Classes for Villagers.

Bill Hink, Jane's youngest son, an expert on all things ocean and also an artist.

Cornelius Hink was the Dutch sailor Jane met

long ago on the ship "Dongedljk."

Jane sold paintings at Art in the Park and will donate all her profit to Ocean Cleanup, Inc.
