Election of new officers for 2024
and 2025
The Arts & Craft Membership Elections meeting is November 6 at 1:45 pm in the Cribari Conference room. We will elect our new officers. Don't miss it.
Has it been a long time since you took a class in drawing, been tutored, or done it on your own? Most of us have done drawing in our lives, starting with crayons or pencils at an early age. Maybe you're accomplished, maybe not. Drawing is an art that dates back to forever. Portrait, landscape, and abstract are some of what many artists draw or sketch. Our meeting on November 6 features Greg Cheung. He will demonstrate drawing for us in Dry media.
Born in Hong Kong, Greg spent K-12 in La Mesa, California. Later, his attendance at Boston U garnered him a BS-MD. Later, he was off to an internship at Baylor of Medicine. By 1973, he was a General Medical Officer in the US Navy and then a Family practice residency at UC Davis, Merced satellite. 1980 through 2013 he practiced in Sunnyvale and Palo Alto clinics and foundations, then, you guessed it, retirement.
Now the art part. It started during his medical practice. Watercolor workshops with artists like Tony Couch, instruction from Ray Mendieta and many others got him underway. Murals and urban street paintings on utility boxes in several cities followed. Greg then studied drawing with Ken Young and Ray Mendieta and Plein Aire at Pacific Art League and mixed in Acrylic.
So come to our last Membership meeting for this year, elect our new officers, hear a little A & C business and then engage with Greg and watch his demonstration technique and we can hear more of what he has to relate to us about drawing.
