CURRENT WORK with GURU JIM PARADIS
Professor Jim Paradis gave his Advanced Design students a challenge to create a painting that illustrated the principles of design he has been teaching them for the past five years: Harmony, balance, limited palette, focus point, asymetricality, uneven negative space, rhythm and movement, color and value....and above all, deliberate composition.
The results, a culmination of five years of studying with Prof. Paradis, are
posted below.
Tangerine by Bill Tibbs, Collage and Acrylic
Emma by Anne Kent, oil pastels
San Francisco by Diane Dathe, collage and acrylic
Space to Breathe by Jane Hink, collage
Haru by Marilyn Murata, collage
Loose Fruit by Joan Fury, drawing
Kraken and Daisy by Barbara Gottesman, collage
Marilyn Murata's Happy Dot, a Collage from the last exhibit, sold for $190
Currently the group is working on learning to critique their own work and the
work of others by practicing with the Elements of Composition.

The Square Pegs
Art is not a job or a skill. It is a way of walking through life.
A different way of looking at art: studying the different genres and movements in art by creating paintings or sculpture in the manner of the genre or period.
