Arts and Crafts Membership meeting Artist Demo October 7, 2024

Zoe Caron is a local East Bay artist who specializes in biology-inspired work in pen and pencil, watercolor, and digital media. She focuses on highly detailed, realistic animals set against backdrops of dynamic, abstract patterns that bring the vibrancy of living forms to the paper.

Zoe's work is a celebration of all things alive, and their unique inner worlds.  Her artistic practice is steeped in science and the outdoors.  Her early works feature drawings of the microscopic world only visible through a microscope in a lab.  Zoe attended UC Berkeley for her undergraduate degree, earning a BS and BA in plant biology and integrative biology.

She spent her childhood learning about nature with her biologist parents and has been forever captivated.  She naturally gravitated towards pencil and ink work due to the high levels of contrast and crisp lines and high degree of realism she could achieve with those media, and her work evolved to include abstract patterns of lines and dots which flow with the energy of the diverse life on Earth.  Zoe hopes that observers will experience some of the same childlike wonder for the natural world that inspires her when viewing her pieces.

On October 7, at 1:45 in the Cribari Conference, please join us for a beautiful, lively, and personable demonstration geared to delight you.  We will have a brief business part first and then Zoe will be presented and away we go.
