Acrylic and Oil Painting Class with Jane Hink

Jane is teaching another Acrylic and Oil Class on Tuesday mornings, beginning August 9 and ending September 13. Student fee is $60. Register with Barbara at 408-532-9402 or barb.gottesman@gmail.com

Fourteen people studied painting oils and acrylics from the beginning with Jane this spring. Most of them had never painted before this class. Their progress has been very satisfying. A special exhibit of their work has been mounted in the Post Office as a quarterly exhibit for The Villages Arts & Crafts Association. Some of them are for sale. Do drop by to see these 17 works of art by new artists.

While you are at it, stop by the Conference Room to see the exhibit of members' work, most of which are also for sale at reasonable prices.

Here is how we began: copying a landscape by Jane in oils or acrylics.

Then each person took a photo of hills on her own and painted an original landscape.

Then we copied a seascape from a photo of Point Lobos by Assistant Teacher Barbara and after that was complete, we painted an original from our own photo

For the final class, we all displayed our current painting on easels at the front of the Art Room. Teacher Jane instructed us to self-critique: to say 3 positive things about our painting. If we said one negative thing, Teacher Barbara would ding us. We did all succeed in the self-critique and have learned not to say "I like" or "I don't like." Instead we pointed out specific items with which we were satisfied.
